Disney Store Limited Edition Moana Doll

I decided it was about time I change my blog a little to accommodate for my other Disney merchandise, as although I mainly collect Pixar merch, I do also collect other Disney merch too which I have been sharing on my Instagram account so thought I ought to share it here too.

So to start off, I thought I'd share one of my most recent purchases and one of my now most favourite items in my collection - the Disney Store Limited Edition Moana Doll.

Moana was released at the cinema in December (in the UK) and if you haven't seen it yet, you really must. It is such a beautiful film and absolutely one of my new favourites. I say that about most Disney films, but this one really is; its just stunning.

I haven't ever really been interested in the Limited Edition dolls from the Disney Store before. Although they looked lovely, I just wasn't sure about the cost and also the space they would take up as I don't have a lot of room for displaying large items. Also, so many people who collect them keep them in their boxes and seem to frown upon those who take them out because it lowers the value and stuff, and I am not the sort of person who keeps toys in boxes, even if they are limited edition, so it did put me off a little bit.

However, when I saw the film and subsequently saw the pictures of the Moana doll, I just couldn't get her out of my mind. Plus, I had a special voucher for the Disney Store which gave me money off limited edition items (normal codes don't work on limited items) so in the end, I really couldn't resist!

She arrived before Christmas but I put her away until after so I would have enough time to really concentrate on her properly without rushing it. If you are a person who is filled with horror at the thought of un-boxing a Limited Edition doll, don't read any further! I have taken her out the box and I don't regret it one bit!

My first surprise with her was her size! I thought they were the same size as the classic Disney Store dolls (of whom I already have the Moana) so I got a bit of a shock when the box arrived as they are MUCH bigger!

The box is beautiful, with lovely designs on the outside; and I love the background inside the box too. Moana, Pua and Hei Hei are displayed really nicely inside. The dolls come with a certificate of authenticity and mine is #5178 of 6500.

The detail on her outfit and accessories is fantastic, especially her sandy feet, the water droplets on her skirt; and her necklace which actually opens up to reveal the heart of Tafiti inside.

She also comes with her oar which is again, beautifully detailed; and her trusty companions Pua and Hei Hei on top of a mound of sand. The sand mound is sandy like Moana's feet; and Pua and Hei Hei are NOT attached so that makes me very happy :)

Moana is jointed but in all honesty, she doesn't have a huge range of movement in them but its good enough for a few different poses. Her face is perfect and really captures her spirit and character; and her hair is really nice but did need a bit of tidying at the back.

All in all, I am really pleased with her and have no regrets about getting her; or about de-boxing her ;) She is still displayed in her box now but she is no longer attached so I can easily get her out whenever I want to which may horrify some people, but I just wouldn't enjoy her at all if she was stuck in her box forever. As lovely as she is though, I don't think I would get any more Limited Edition dolls, purely because I just don't have room to display them. I'd love the Merida one they did but she is much too expensive for me on the secondary market now; and I would consider any other Pixar characters they did in future; but its unlikely any others will come to live here.
